Vanquish
Products makes very high quality off-road chassis trucks and parts, but
so far the only one I had built was the ridiculous Ripper,
a limited edition chassis with a fully machined cage and body
panels. While an amazing build, it can't be reasonably compared to
any "regular" chassis, even a very nice one. VP's most common
high end chassis is the VS4-10, a classic 1/10 scale juggernaut with
4-link suspension. I had one in the box ready to build when my
2022 fire occurred, so I lost it without ever having the pleasure of
building it. While still in production when I was procuring
replacements, various changes had been made. I ended up with a
VS4-10 Pro which includes all aluminum axles and the newer VFD
transmission which is slung extremely low in the chassis. Then it
sat in the box again for a couple of years until I finally got around to
building it. I don't know why I waited so long. This
chassis was a real joy to build with everything being of the highest
quality. Sure, the wheels are plastic, but it would be easy enough
to upgrade them when the time is right. The drivetrain, in
particular, is a beast. Everything is steel and hardened. I
originally didn't like the half cab body and procured an original SUV
style Origin body to swap when I built it, but then as I got into the
build and test fit the body that came in the box, I changed my mind and
used it after all. Among other things, a body with a lower rear
half doesn't wobble around as much on the posts. As of 2026, an
even newer version is now available with a clipless body system and
molded inner fenders. This one would have been my preference, but
it would make no sense to go get that one when I already had this one in
the box.This is a very high performing chassis. With a Hobbywing FOC system the low speed control is like butter and it will easily tackle any of the terrain I have near my home. It is not quite as scale as hard body truck, but this one is more about performance than appearance. And at that, it excels. I can easily recommend it to anyone interested in off-roading.
