Race Cars

The Race Cars category encompasses mostly Formula One racers but also any other car that looks like it would be primarily for racing.  The flagships of this line include a pair of huge, nearly identical 1:8 scale racers,  a Ferrari F1 racer on the same scale, and a newer model with smaller tires but additional mechanical features.  These all have accurate 4 wheel independent suspension and V-8 or V-10 engines.  A smaller, 1:10 scale Ferrari F1 is also available, and so is a Le Mans racer.  Many smaller models are also included with fewer features.  The alternate model of 8880 is also a very good quality F1 racer and is the only one with a transmission.

The one American top fuel drag racer stands out like a sore thumb.  A couple of the smallest models are not identifiable as any particular kind of racing car.

My favorite is probably the 8458 Silver Champion, but you can't go wrong with any of the 1:8 scale racers.  8440 is also excellent.  Unfortunately, all of the large scale racers seem to have very poor quality sticker sheets which crack and disintegrate after about a year, even with no sun exposure.  Since they tend to be highly decorated models, the loss of the stickers is very noticeable.
