Page 2: Preparing the Body
This is a low body like what was used on the Team car, but narrowed
considerably. It is also trimmed differently with the area behind
the cockpit (which would
normally be over the motor) removed and different cutouts around the
front shock tower. Because of the trimming there is no rear body
post attachment and therefore the back part of the body connects to the
chassis with velcro. On the left you can see the body trimmed and
masked. On the right I've painted it with metallic green backed in
silver. I also smoked the windows because there is no driver in
this one.
On the left I've applied the extravagant stickers which were difficult
to apply around all the compound curves. The wrinkles are upsetting but couldn't be avoided. Note that the kit came
with a full masking set to actually paint the full livery instead of
using stickers if desired. With all the different colors and
gradients, that was way too much for me. The wing uses thick
panels on the sides which adhere with double sided tape. On the
right you can see the completed model. I'm not so sure I would
have chosen those pink rear wheels, but since this is a historic replica
I have to use them.
