Tamiya TT-02BR Project

Page 1:  Stock Assembly

I've built the TT-02B MS before and documented it in detail.  Please see that page for more information.  I'll only discuss the relevant differences here.

There are a lot of upgraded parts included in the TT-02BR so I'll use these photos to run through as many of them as I can.  On the left you can see the steering cranks which are actually still plastic.  Not sure why they didn't include the nice aluminum upgrades which are still available.  The servo saver is the high torque version with an aluminum horn.  You can see the aluminum prop shaft and upgraded drive cups at either end.  The drive cups are new parts modified from the old versions by having two slot widths depending on whether or not you are using a prop shaft with blades on the ends.  The electronics area is stock but I used a nice Super Stock motor.

The suspension shows most of the upgrades, the most significant of which is the TRF shocks.  These are new versions which add knurling to the shock caps.  Also visible are a full set of turnbuckles, aluminum rear uprights, CVD drive shafts, and carbon shock towers.  The lower suspension arms are now carbon filled, but that's pretty hard to see.  The upper gearbox housings are also carbon filled.  Hidden inside those housings are upgraded sealed gear differentials.  There are also full ball bearings and hex hardware throughout.
