So what's the difference between a regular Optima and a Turbo Optima?  The gold chassis of the Turbo didn't exist on the 1986 original except as an upgrade.  The Turbo uses a wider body suitable for a 8.4V Ni-Cd battery back instead of the traditional 7.2V.  This was a big deal in the 80's, but doesn't matter so much if you are going to run it with a LiPo like I am.  The Turbo also features bigger wheels (50mm vs 43mm) and tires with different tread, adjustable big bore shocks, front and rear sway bars, and a protective under guard for the chassis.  As far as I can tell, they are otherwise the same.

This buggy looks good from any angle.  I'm really pleased with the final appearance, in addition to the obvious performance.

Here is the new version of the model I built after the fire.
