So what's the difference between a regular Optima and a
Turbo Optima? The gold chassis of the Turbo didn't exist on the
1986 original except as an upgrade. The Turbo uses a wider body
suitable for a 8.4V Ni-Cd battery back instead of the traditional
7.2V. This was a big deal in the 80's, but doesn't matter so much
if you are going to run it with a LiPo like I am. The Turbo also
features bigger wheels (50mm vs 43mm) and tires with different tread,
adjustable big bore shocks, front and rear sway bars, and a protective
under guard for the chassis. As far as I can tell, they are
otherwise the same.
This buggy looks good from any angle. I'm really
pleased with the final appearance, in addition to the obvious
performance.
