Tamiya Sand Viper Project

I've built on DT-02 model in the past, and it was the deluxe DT-02 MS from 2007 which I already wrote about extensively.  That was a limited edition kit which was already difficult to find in 2020 when I built it, and has proven impossible to replace after the 2022 fire.  I decided I did need another DT-02 in my life though, and there were many to choose from.  The first was the Super FIghter G from 2005 followed by the Desert Gator, Sand Viper, Neo Falcon, Holiday Buggy and Sand Viper "re-releases", Nissan Titan, and Super Fighter (along with many Expert Built and color variants).  My favorite is probably the simple Sand Viper (using the same body shell as the MS) which, to my good fortune, was still in production and dirt cheap.  I say simple because there is nothing special about this buggy.  It doesn't have any strange styling or wacky slogan on the wing.  It's just a simple, good looking, basic 2WD buggy.  Good for driving and not worrying about.  Perfect.  It doesn't have the bling of the MS version, but honestly I don't think any of those upgrades actually made it drive any better anyway.

This rear wheel drive buggy uses a plastic bathtub chassis with four wheel double wishbone suspension and CVA dampers.  It comes with a silver can, but I upgraded to a Sport Tuned motor and left it otherwise stock. It handles great and has just enough power for some fun oversteer in the corners with throttle.  It's also an incredible looking buggy.
