Fijon. You've never heard of them.
Neither had I ..... until that one YouTube video. I saw a video of
this beautiful carbon and aluminum drift chassis and, although I am not
particularly interested in drifting, I couldn't resist such a beautiful
build at such a reasonable price. Whenever you order a kit from
an unknown company you are taking a risk. The parts might be
garbage, the fit might be terrible. I didn't have any of those
problems. This chassis was an absolute joy to build. Every
single part is carbon or machined aluminum and even the hardware was
lovely. This is a purpose designed drift chassis with a 1.3:1
overdrive on the rear axle (counter steer), front and rear locked
spools, and it uses a combination of belt and shaft drive. The
motor is mounted in the front and uses a pair of belts before using a
prop shaft to go to the rear axle. The front suspension uses real
MacPherson struts. The kits doesn't come with any wheels and tires
so you have to supply your own drift tires. I installed a 10.5T
Hobbywing brushless system and a very fast Protek servo.
I never found a body to fit this. Because of the tall front end
only certain body shapes are compatible. I would have eventually
found something, but I wasn't very motivated since I can't drift. I
was hoping that this wasn't due to any deficiency on my part and
therefore things would be much better with a real drift car, but no such
luck. On my other drift chassis I just converted it to a standard
touring car, but that's not possible here due to the rear
overdrive. After owning it 2 years and only driving it twice, I
ended up selling it. I don't regret buying it though, because I
really enjoyed the build process.
