Losi 6iX Project
Page 1: The Chassis
Here is the chassis without the body showing the
glorious innards. All the rigidity comes from the base plate
because there is no stiffener. The right hand image shows the huge
aluminum shocks.
The model uses a large scale servo which has plenty of torque but is very slow.
The motor is only 2100kV, but the ESC can pull 160A so there is plenty
of gearing to go fast. You can see the huge battery cages.
The wiring is setup to use two batteries in series. I switched out
the connectors for my standard Traxxas high current connectors.
The receiver is protected inside a closed box, so the whole car is
waterproof. Driving it in the rain provides a lot of drifting fun.
The bottom of the car shows the massive road rash from scraping on the asphalt. I increased the ride height
as much as I could which mostly takes care of scraping, but my road is
pretty rough. The two plastic doors on the right are battery
access. You can see in this image that the tires are already bald. They were not slicks when I started.
Just how big is that motor? Really big.
Update:
Prior to selling this model I tore it all down, cleaning and rebuilding
as I went. The following photos are the best I have of the
internals of the car.
