Proline Pro MT 4x4 Project
Page 1: Roller Original
The Pro MT comes in a surprisingly small box. Once opened, the
truck is almost totally built. The tires are already glued to the
wheels but not yet attached to the chassis. The body is already
cut out and drilled and attaches with Proline's Secure-Loc caps.
Here is my chosen set of electronics. I have a 2 channel Spektrum
receiver, an X-Pert high torque waterproof steering servo, and a 1:8
scale sensored brushless system from Hobbywing. The motor is a
1900 kV model. The right hand image shows the motor connected to
the motor mount and Mod 1 pinion gear. The motor mount uses preset
inserts to achieve set spacing for different pinion gears.
Apparently there was an error in the manual because mine came with an
addendum. Even then, the spacing did not seem to be right and I
ended up using something different than the manual suggested.
Success! The electronics fit perfectly. The only thing that
worries me is how close the receiver wires are to the rotating spur
gear. I also found that the servo wire could be easily damaged by
the center differential if not very carefully routed. There is a
3s battery in the picture, but I went a got a nice big 4s shortly
after. The paint job was a big challenge for me with all the
masking and didn't come out quite as I expected, but is good enough for a
basher.
