I go back and forth on whether or not the change from two-tone blue
and white to digital camouflage was an improvement or not. Whether
the camo is better or not, at least it means my copy doesn't look just
like everyone else's RTR. Changing the body gave me a chance to
make the model my own. Then of course the plow really stands
out. The plow was built for the Trail Finder 2 chassis, but not
necessarily to use with this body. Luckily I was able to make it
work while still retaining the scale engine details I wanted. The
plow is easy to remove to convert this back to a standard K5 Blazer as
the pictures below show.
A body completely covered in digital camouflage actually looks quite
plain so I wanted to be sure to highlight some details. I spend a
lot of time painting the weather stripping around each window. I
also added the molding on the side which would normally separate the
two-tone paint. Even though the interior was already gray, I
painted the seats and detailed the dash. Probably the most time
was spent on the grille. The part is molded in chrome finish but I
painted the area behind each slat black which added a lot of
depth. I may still go back and paint the plow yellow. It is
already molded in yellow but has that clearly plastic finish so I think
paint would look better.
