Steering
The front wheels can be steered using a "hand of god"wheel at the top
of the vehicle. The wheel drives through a set of 12 tooth
bevel gears, and then reverses at the front of the vehicle with spur
gears. A pair of 8 tooth pinions then drive the gear rack. The steering mechanism itself uses control arms and toothed links as shown in the computer image. There is also a crown gear protruding from the rear of the vehicle geared to the overhead control. This gear has no apparent purpose but may be intended to represent a Power Take-Off. |

Dude
This buggy is driven by a helmeted police officer sporting some sweet
shades and, curiously, dressed head to toe in black. Doesn't seem
too good for the beach, but perhaps it is a chilly beach in Svalbard. |
